Mayan Calendar 2025: Vision & Inspiration
Mayan Calendar Predictions. What will happen in 2025?
Will we, as the Civilized Bears Calendar has predicted, go on to “a Sudden New Spirituality. A time of New Voices, unheard until now. And Laughter in the Forest.” Especially in the Thirteenth Month. [1]
When the Spanish explorers discovered the Mayans, their Catholic priests were astounded by the Mayan calendars. And by that new-found Central American civilization’s complex system of prediction.
A system of mathematical interlocking wheels that seemed to be based on a combined formulation 0f Eastern Astrology and Western Numerology.
The Spanish Priests were used to the two forms of prediction sanctioned by the Bible. Sacred Visions and Dream Interpretation.
Nebuchadnezzar’s nightmare of the smashed statue, for instance. Which Daniel interpreted for him. Daniel had his own dreams to work out. Such as his lion, bear, leopard and the ten-horned sea-beast dream. There were those dreams foretelling the birth of Jesus. And many more.
Those explorer priests found the Mayan precepts both astounding and disturbing.
The Mayan understanding and use of mathematics was amazing. And remains so today.
We’ve heard about it, of course. But how does the Mayan Calendar work?
“The Maya calendar is a system of calendars used in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. As well as many modern communities in the Guatemalan highlands, Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico.” [2]
The essentials of the Maya calendar are based upon a system which had been in common use throughout the region. Dating back to at least the 5th century BC. It shares many aspects with calendars employed by other earlier Mesoamerican civilizations. Such as the Zapotec and Olmec. Both contemporary or later ones such as the Mixtec and Aztec calendars.
They’ve been seriously studied in the centuries since. With the help of indigenous scholars themselves, the patterns of the Great Calendar are being revealed.
By the Maya mythological tradition, the deity Itzamna is credited with bringing the knowledge of the calendrical system to the ancestral Maya. All this is documented in Colonial Yucatec accounts. And reconstructed from Late Classic and Postclassic inscriptions. Along with writing in general and other foundational aspects of Mayan culture.
The Maya calendar consists of several cycles or “counts” of different lengths. The 260-day count is known to scholars as the Tzolkin, or Tzolkʼin. The Tzolkin was combined with a 365-day vague solar year known as the Haabʼ. Which forms a synchronized cycle lasting for 52 Haabʼ. These are called the Calendar Round. The Calendar Round is still in use by many groups in the Guatemalan highlands.
Interesting stuff. Worth researching.
